Clyfford Still Museum Pflow Lift

On November 17, 2011, the new Clyfford Still Museum will open in Denver, Colorado.

Did you ever wonder how they are going to move those massive, expensive, paintings safely to the upper level of the museum? Leave the complicated applications to the experts at Western Storage and Handling.

The original museum design called for a large platform scissors lift that would be mounted in a 4′ pit. WSH suggested using a vertical reciprocating conveyor with a 14′ X 7′ platform. This lift was manufactured by Pflow Industries in Wisconsin. This lift has a capacity of 3,000 lbs., a vertical lift of approximately 14′, and required a pit of only 6″. Paintings are loaded and unloaded using a cart.
The access doors are 11′ wide by 12′ high to allow the largest paintings safe access to the lift.

Hospital Has Emergency Space Issue

A Colorado Hospital needed more space in the male and female doctor’s locker rooms but was unable to increase the size of the rooms. Also, there were no other rooms available to relocate these locker rooms. Because all of the existing lockers had been assigned to the staff, an increase in the number of doctors by 15% meant there were not going to be lockers available for the new staff.
Western Storage and Handling’s locker experts came up with a solution. The existing 12″ wide lockers could be removed and new 10″ wide lockers could be installed to increase the number of opennings within the same footprint to accomodate the new staff.
Because this is an operating hospital the installation had to occur during non- surgery hours over the weekend. The WSH installation crew worked 28 hours straight starting on Friday night and completed the project within the target time frame.

The doctors all ended up with individual locker opennings, a cubby for footwear, and a changing bench. Give the experts at WSH a call to assist you with your space challenges.

Mezzanine System helps customer increase work space in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Western Storage and Handling recently assisted a large U.S. Defense contractor deal with reqirements for additional space within their existing leased facility. Because of continued double digit growth, this customer needed to expand the service and parts departments.

Western Storage and Handling utilized a custom designed mezzanine system to accomodate the requirement for additional floor space eliminating the need to lease additional building space.

The mezzanine system included a resin deck floor which allows the customer to use carts and pallet jacks on the floor surface.

Because the mezzanine was designed, constructed, and assembled, in compliance with the International Building Code there were no problems getting the required permits from the local building department.
Western Storage and Handling performed all project management including the coordination of fire protection installation, and lighting installation.

Hand rail and kick plate were installed around the perimeter of the mezzanine. A pallet drop gate allows easy loading and unloading of large loads using a fork lift truck. Wire mesh enclosures were installed to create secured storage areas both on the mezzanine and underneath it. Industrial shelving, bulk racks, modular drawer cabinets, and work benches were strategically located to maximize the efficiency of both floor spaces.

Automotive Dealership selects Western Storage and Handling

Western Storage and Handling of Englewood, Colorado was selected to supply tire rack, work benches for the service department, industrial shelving and modular drawers for the parts department to the new automive dealership in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Delivery of the equipment and assembly occured in a very tight time frame enabling the dealership to open on time fully equipped to service their customers. A combination of industrial shelving with modular drawers are being used to store parts in a minimum amount of floorspace and close to the issue counter.

This dealership offers storage of customer’s winter and summer tires. to accomplish this they installed Borroughs Rivet style tire racks to accomodate over 600 tires on their mezzanine.

Western Storage and Handling worked with the dealership to find the most effective way to layout the storage equipment in the parts department using Configura layout design software.

Ski Lockers for Ski Patrol

A Colorado Ski Resort needed to expand their ski patrol workforce but they didn’t have the space in their locker room to install additional ski lockers. The only area available to install new lockers had an overall height of 96″. Typical ski lockers require 104″ of height for the locker and boot drying system.

Western Storage and Handling worked with a locker manufacturer to come up with a special height base and special height ski locker to leave 16″ available at the top to accomodate the boot drying system. Solutions to your special objectives are our specialty. How can we help you with your ski locker storage project?

Parts Storage Project Completed

Western Storage and Handling recently completed a parts storage project for an auto parts dealership in Northern Colorado. A combination of modular drawers in shelving, adjustable bin shelving, and rivet style bulk racks allowed the dealership to reduce the amount of floorspce for parts storage and add service bays to the service department.

The dealership was able to stay in operation during the installation process with the WSH crew assembling 2 rows of parts storage equipment at a time, pulling off the job for a few days while the parts personnel moved the inventory, then the WSH crew returned to start the process again.
